How to Reduce the Cost of Fitting a New Gas Boiler
Is worry about the cost of getting a new gas boiler fitted, stopping you sleeping at night?
If so, it’s not surprising. Fitting a new gas boiler is notoriously expensive, and even if you do have a contingency fund it will eat into it massively. Don’t worry too much though, it may not be quite as bad as you imagine.
This blog will show you how to buy a new gas boiler and have it fitted for a lot less then you might think.
1. Do your homework
When you need something in a hurry, it’s easy to jump right in and buy the first one you see or are offered. Don’t do this! If you do, you’ll end up paying more than you need to.
Prices are different from company to company, and imagine how you’ll feel if you find out later that you could have saved £500 or even more, simply by making a couple more calls?
2. Get several quotes
If you were making any other major purchase for your home – conservatory, carpets, bathroom, etc - you’d expect to get several quotes in to see what’s available for your money.
A new gas boiler should be no different, even if you need it fitted fast because you have no heating or hot water. These days it’s easy enough to get several quotes in one day, or even a few hours.
3. Shop Online Forget the Yellow Pages.
It may have been the place to go to find all the local tradespeople some years back - but now it’s not even big enough to use as a door stop.
The internet is where it’s at, and because of that you can pick up some great boiler deals from companies like us who’ve used the internet to cut our overheads.
The fact is, if it takes a sales person to close you when you’re buying your boiler, you’re already paying too much – because that sales person’s salary and bonuses have to come out of the price of your boiler.
4. Go for a fixed quote
There’s nothing worse than thinking you’re getting something for a reasonable price, then finding out there are a load of add-ons at the back end. Nobody likes those surprises – that’s why at Macbrook Gas we only give fixed quotes that show the full new boiler cost and installation. We never charge extra, even if things go wrong.
Hopefully that’s helped give you some insight into saving money when you need to replace a gas boiler. Our customers can generally save anything between £500 and £1500 when they buy from us
